Today I want to share about one of my favorite places here in Louisiana, Raising Cane's.
Before I walked throught the door of the first Raising Cane's restaurant I went to down here I read the notice on the door. "Don't expect to get a hamburger or a salad here. We serve one thing. Chicken fingers."
You're probably thinking, "How can a place survive by selling only one main menu item?" The answer to that is that they do one item and do it REALLY well! The chicken is fresh chicken breast that is marinated, breaded and fried in the restaurant. The side menu items are texas toast, french fries and cole slaw and they have excellent sweet tea and lemonade. They also have a "secret" sauce to dip the chicken in.
The story of Raising Cane's is just as good as their chicken. A local guy decided to start his own business. He had a name picked out for his restaurant and his friends decided the name just didn't fit. His friends suggested he name the restaurant after his belovoed Laborador Retreiver, Raising Cane, hence the name. The chicken is so popular the restuaruant became a chain and there are now restuarants throughout Louisiana.
You'll have to eat at Raising Caines if you get to come visit us. I've included a link to their fun website!
