Our little architect and planner Justis has seen his lemonade stand plans begin to take shape into the REAL deal today!
Travis chose to use the Home Depot gift card he received from ADM for Christmas to buy materials to make the lemonade stand drawn in the plans Justis handed to Travis several months ago.
We all went to Home Depot and the kids rode on the materials cart while Travis got the wood he needed to build the lemonade stand. Travis redrew Justis' design, putting in measurements. He kept it looking exactly like the one in Justis's plan, though!
Travis began last night and got the frame up and then he and the kids worked on it all day today since Travis had the day off for Martin Luther King Day.
We all pitched in and worked. Travis did the measuring, cutting and screwing together of the stand. I drew and cut a few fancy edges with the skill saw Travis got me for my birthday a couple of years ago. Justis was like the general contractor of the project, frequently checking on progress and asking questions about what was happening and how Daddy planned on doing it. Madalynn, Justis and Dawson all started painting it this evening.
Some more painting is all Travis and the kids have to do before the job is done! The project has been fun for all of us.
Justis can hardly wait to see lemonade stand finished. He woke up this morning and, still in his boxer-briefs, went straight to the back door and looked out at the lemonade stand frame. He then heard Travis running on the treadmill.
"Good. Daddy hasn't started painting it yet!" He said. "I'm going to go get my clothes on so I can go out with Daddy to finish it as soon as he's ready!"
