Diary of a Gustav Evacuee Day 3: Labor Day

Justis and Dawson are trying to sit quietly, watching and waiting for the next dove target to fly. Look closely. Dawson is petting a dead dove!

We reached our hotel in Ardmore, Oklahoma at 12:30 a.m., which was the closest hotel to Louisiana Holly could find for us to stay that night. We were all asleep within five minutes of getting into our hotel room!

We got to Travis's parent's house in Wichita around 12:30 p.m., just in time for a family Labor Day barbecue and swim party.

Travis took Dawson and Justis dove hunting (it was opening day) at the Wallace farm that afternoon while Holly, Madalynn, Jillian and I all went and got pedicures. My tired eyes and weary body enjoyed the massaging pedicure chair and foot bath! My tired eyes and weary body enjoyed the massaging pedicure chair and foot bath. The pedicure also took my mind off of Gustav for an hour.

Jae, my boss said that Dawson was probably petting the dead dove because it was his job to keep the bird quiet!
